Jamain Birgitha’s Exhibition “Into the Fields of Color"

What on earth is happening here? Far from a blur.

At first the viewer doesn’t see and this is, of course, offensive.

This body is not configured. It is being conceived by a break in the flow of seeing.

How can we accept what is not yet figured and worse still without a head? Why do I look when it will force me to deliberate? Those bloody details cut into the spirit of comprehension and it hurts: A presence with hundreds of eloquent directions. Here begins the shift of eyes and the turning of dials, tracing and adjusting. Birgitha gives the example; She’s attained a powerful imagination from a delicate coordination.

Jamain Brigitha's Exhibition...

These photo’s are each a dance about time within the body. This time it certainly isn’t going in a straight line or back and forth on a conflictual wire. Here, in this green and that orange, rounded and swerving, thrusts and streams, playing with blackness, a new course is not provided but required. With the dancer sustaining so many directions at once, we must move to catch up. And he’s still there when we do, presenting another sequence. This dancer’s body, caught but not tamed, in it’s description of possibilities, is a liberty that offends my wanting to master the image. And the image is, of course, a moment.
